The FCA has been singing the praises of its new data collection platform RegData, which it says is faster, easier to use, and based on more flexible technology than the outgoing Gabriel platform.
The regulator is currently moving 120,000 users and 52,000 firms’ data from Gabriel to RegData. In an attempt to minimise disruption, firms are being moved across in batches, based on their reporting requirements.
If you haven’t already made the transition, you can find out what to expect by visiting the FCA’s dedicated webpage. There are also some short instructional videos you can look at here.
Firms are promised three weeks’ notice of their planned migration date, and each Gabriel user will be sent a notification email. The FCA will handle all data migration, but it’s essential all users register for RegData ahead of the move.
Based on extensive feedback from Gabriel users, the new system features significantly improved functionality, including messages that make it clear when data items are due or overdue.
The FCA also says RegData’s new, more flexible technology makes it ‘possible to fix issues quicker and make ongoing improvements to user experience’ (their dodgy grammar, not ours!)
