On 27 July the FCA launched an enhanced version of its Financial Services Register, along with an accompanying statement. The good news is the new version features clearer navigation and design, simpler language, better guidance on use, greater prominence for key information, and optimisation for mobile devices. The bad news is that a range of issues have quickly come to light in relation to its content. Among the issues UKGI is aware of are the following:
- Firms mistakenly deregulated
- Permissions missing
- Firms falling off the Register altogether
- Individuals missing
- Incorrect addresses
- Incorrect information on Appointed Representatives.
Remember: your firm is responsible for checking that all data relating to your firm is correct and up to date, notifying any changes via Connect or (for The Directory) the multi-entry facility. In the meantime, the FCA has said it is aware of the problems with the latest version of the Register and working on rectifying them.
